Description
Course Overview:
This training will identify industry standards for a successful Internal Affairs intake process and procedures. It will also discuss the classification and assignment of internal investigations based on the general allegations classification. While many departments have two sets of internal affairs investigations, those done at the divisional level or chain of command investigations and the internal affairs (IA) investigations, we will identify the potential pitfalls of not having internal affair tracking and monitor all the department IA investigations. We will discuss how mediation can help with minor misconduct as an alternate complaint resolution instead of having all complaints go through the traditional investigative process. A well-planned mediation program can help find a resolution to employee minor misconduct while at the same time reinforcing our commitment to providing quality service to our communities.
