For Public Safety Personnel, responding to a crisis involving an individual with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can be incredibly challenging. Common issues can be communication, de-escalation, and understanding some of the unique behaviors of those with autism.
This webinar will discuss the characteristics of autism, as well as safety concerns. Some of the topics that will be covered consist of elopement, sensory issues, and communication challenges. The goal of this training is to increase knowledge and awareness of autism spectrum disorder for Public Safety Personnel. Participants will learn how to respond in a proactive and positive manner to calls they may receive involving individuals with autism.
