Description
The public fire investigator is responsible to ensure the constitution rights of individuals are respected, protected, and enforced. These protections are a helper to the investigator, not a hindrance! The presentation will prepare the investigator to skillfully navigate legal areas relating to fire investigations. The ultimate goal, which is to have all evidence, confessions, and findings withstand any legal challenges and be admissible in court.
This presentation is designed to:
1) Help the investigator understand the basics of constitutional law
2) Develop correct practices for interviews, evidence collection and other legal matters
3) Educate the investigator to avoid common mistakes
4) Prepare the investigator to be confident for any legal proceedings
