Stan B. Walters is an internationally recognized authority on investigative interviewing and interrogation. For more than four decades, he has studied the science of interviews and helped investigators replace outdated assumptions with methods grounded in psychology, memory science, and behavioral research.
Walters is the developer of the Cognitive Reliability Framework™, a modern approach to diagnosing reliability in high-stakes interviews and evaluating statements under investigative and courtroom scrutiny.
Every course Walters presents is audited against current peer-reviewed published scientific research before it is delivered. His work emphasizes evidence-based interviewing, statement reliability, contamination control, false-confession prevention, and courtroom-defensible investigative practices.

This program addresses a common gap in law enforcement and investigative work: highly capable investigators often underperform in interviews because they lack advanced, scientifically sound interviewing skills.
The course identifies the root causes of ineffective interviews:
1. No formal training, leading to inconsistent or unproductive outcomes.
2. Poor or outdated training, resulting in incomplete or contaminated interviews.
3. Reliance on unscientific concepts and myths, which leads to misdiagnosed deception, alienated victims/witnesses, and misidentified suspects.
4. Use of flawed techniques, which increase liability for both the interviewer and their agency.
The solution is a narrative-based approach rooted in empirical behavioral research, designed to improve both the quality and quantity of information obtained in interviews. This training is part of Walters’ Practical Kinesic Interview and Interrogation series, emphasizing behavioral analysis and scientifically validated methods.
