Though some conflict is a normal and natural part of any workplace, if not properly managed it can lead to absenteeism, lost productivity, and unnecessary added stress. At the same time, conflict can be a motivator that generates new ideas and innovation by forcing co-workers to justify their ideas and possibly prevent future problems. However, whether positive or negative, conflict needs to be effectively managed in order to contribute to the success of organizations.
Since some conflict is unavoidable, supervisors must learn to embrace it and mitigate its ill effects while accentuating the positive ones. Although it can often be unpleasant, conflict can be a sign of a need for change and an opportunity for growth, new understanding, and improved communication. In this webinar, we will discuss some of the recognized conflict management styles and skills needed to properly manage conflict at work and at home. We will identify sources of conflict and then provide tips on resolving that conflict in order to provide for a more harmonious work environment.
