Throughout the career of any correctional officer, there is a strong likelihood that an inmate(s) will attempt to manipulate them in someway. This applies to all officers, regardless of whether they are seasoned or a “newbie”. In this course we will identify various tactics inmates use to manipulate staff for their own personal gain. We will also discuss the Communication strategies correctional officers can use to prevent falling victim to the inmates games. Finally, we will explore ways to address manipulation when it is identified.
