Course Overview:
Leading Behind the Badge:
Integrity-Centered Leadership
Course Description:
At no time in recorded history has law enforcement been under more public scrutiny and mistrust than today with the advent of the 24 hour television, instant news coverage, the ever present video camera and the internet. In this high-speed digital age, with immediate oversight, the public is increasingly demanding a higher level of transparency in police leadership and operations.
Regardless of ones rank and or experience,
“Leading Behind the Badge” is an essential training course for those who wear the badge in public safety and criminal justice. This training addresses the personal leadership development of the person behind the badge and delivers a comprehensive big picture approach to doing the right thing, the right way for the right reason.
It is often said that, “
everything rises and falls on leadership.” Today’s public safety and criminal justice agencies need strong leaders at every level of the organization. To meet the demands currently placed on those who serve and protect, leadership must be fostered at every level of the organization and all employees sworn and civilian should be encouraged to act as leaders. It is a well-known and established fact that “you cannot lead others until you can lead yourself.” Much of today’s leadership training focuses on ability and proficiency in one’s profession and often ignores the benefits of developing sound personal leadership principles in our personnel which serve as the foundation on which to build cohesiveness within an organization and enhance other professional development.
“Leading Behind the Badge” is about sound human resource development that provides the “winning edge” in employee, staff and organizational development.
Course Objective:
